Paisley is the largest town in the historic county of Renfrewshire in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. The town is situated on the northern edge of the Gleniffer Braes, straddling the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde.

By air - from Glasgow airports

  • From Glasgow International Airport
    Glasgow International Airport is situated in Paisley, 10 to 15 minutes by taxi to the University accommodation. Taxis are available from the front of the airport and can also be called from the airport. Airport staff can assist you if required.

  • From Glasgow Prestwick Airport
    From Glasgow Prestwick Airport you can get a train direct to Paisley Gilmour Street train station, taking 40 minutes. All passengers receive discounted rail tickets on proof of air travel (e.g. flight itinerary or boarding pass). You should take the Glasgow bound train which operates approximately every 30 minutes, for most of the day, and every hour on a Sunday. The Trainline website provides information about train times and fares.

    Once you have arrived at Paisley Gilmour Street train station, you can take a taxi from Country Square (outside the station) directly to your accommodation. 


If your planes arrives into Glasgow Prestwick Airport after the last train to Paisley has left, you will need to take a taxi to Paisley, costing approximately £55 to
 £70. Taxis are available from the front of the airport and can also be called from the airport. Airport staff can assist you if required.



By train

By train

The UWS Paisley Campus is well served by public transport links. Paisley Gilmour Street and Canal Street train stations are both within a 10 minute walk of campus. There are bus stops within close proximity to the main High Street entrance of campus.  

Timetables for local bus and rail services are available at the campus reception. Alternatively, you can plan your walking, cycling or public transport route with Google Maps or Traveline Scotland. 



By car

By car

The quickest way to the university of the west of Scotland from the airport is via de M8. Merging on to the M74 and then taking exit A72 in Hamilton.

You can plan your route online using one of the free route planners - examples are The AA or The RAC.

   


Parking

Parking in Paisley

There's no student car parking available at the Paisley campus. It's all reserved for staff. There is a multi-storey car par across from the Uni in the Paisley Centre. There is also a free car park area just off Walker Street.
